Cinnamon Twists

Hey y'all! So today, we're taking a break from multi-step cupcakes and 2-hour rising bread and making something real nice and simple. Are you ready? Let's get started.

You only need four ingredients: refrigerated biscuits, butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Now first thing's first: put your big girl/guy pants on and pop open your biscuit can. Or leave your regular pants on and ask your mom to do it. No judgement here. I will forever be scared of opening a biscuit can. It is dreadful to slowly peel away the wrapper, waiting for the moment that the can will pop open, and then trying not to jump a foot in the air when it does. But you do. Every single time.

But anyway, when you get your can open by whichever route you choose to take, you're going to separate all your biscuits (however many come in your can) and set them aside. Then, you're going to melt your butter, and prepare your cinnamon sugar mixture.

Now, here comes the fun part. You're going to take a biscuit, stretch open the middle of it to make a hole, dip it in the butter, dip it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and finally, twist it to form a figure 8 shape. Let's recap: stretch, dip, dip, twist. That sounds like it could be a dance move, right? Well, you're going to do the stretch, dip, dip, and twist for the rest of the biscuits.

Then you're going to bake them at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes. And in that 8-10 minutes, everyone is going to flock like bees to the kitchen, asking you what you're baking because it smells really, really good. And you're going to tell them to wait and see.

And then when those 8-10 minutes are done, you're going to present these beauties to them and they will take one bite, then another, then another, and soon the whole batch will be gone, right before your eyes. In other words, these are amazing. Like so amazing...you don't even know. You don't even, you don't even know.  YOU. DON'T. EVEN. KNOW! (in Dane Cook voice)

But I want you to know. I need you to know. So, you have to make these. Make them for breakfast, make them for lunch, make them as a snack, make them for dinner, make them for dessert-- just make them. And if you want to take the level of amazing up a notch, dip them in Cool Whip. Oh me, oh my.

Cinnamon Twists

Yield: 8 twists (or however many biscuits come in your can)

Ingredients:

1 can Pillsbury Grands! biscuits (you can use any kind)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 and 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat (or in a microwave) and pour into another small bowl.

Pop open biscuit can and separate biscuits. Using both of your thumbs, poke a large hole in the center of each biscuit, to make a circle. Dip biscuit circles in melted butter, then coat with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Twist each biscuit to form a figure 8 shape, and place on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, keeping a close eye on them so they don't burn. Immediately remove from pan and place on wire rack to cool.
