Superbowl XLIX Dessert Table

So, this isn't so much a dessert table as it is a round-up of desserts I made for the Super Bowl this year. If you don't already know, the Super Bowl is my most favorite event ever! I like to go all out for it. And by go all out, I mean, make a bunch of desserts...mainly for other people!

Like for instance, last year, I gave away this two-tiered cake. And previous years before that, I made cakes for my brother and his friends and for my co-workers as well. This year, I made a cake for my brother and his friends again, but I also did something I've never done before-- I hosted a giveaway for an entire dessert spread!

Cakes are cool, but I wanted to branch out and do something different. I decided on four desserts for the giveaway: brownies, cupcakes, Oreo truffles, and red velvet cheesecake cookies. Not a bad combination, eh?

For the brownies, I simply baked my favorite recipe in a 13x9 pan, then used a football cookie cutter to cut out shapes and melted white chocolate to decorate. For the Oreo truffles, I dipped them in white candy melts, and drizzled them with more candy melts in team colors. I also printed out little flag toppers to add some pizazz! Shoutout to Elegance and Enchantment!

Now, although this spread wasn't meant to be biased for any team, I did drizzle the red velvet cheesecake cookies with Patriots colors candy melts to add a Super Bowl touch. It turns out they won, so my mind was in the right place!

Finally, for the cupcakes, I used yellow candy melts to pipe out field goals, a grass tip to pipe grass, and a round tip to pipe the yard line. YES, I realize there is supposed to be more space between the 10 yard line and the field goal. Only everyone in my family mentioned it to me. They are cupcakes people, just go with it!

My biggest achievement this weekend though, was definitely the cake. It was my first time making a two-tier square cake. And a double-sided one at that! I saw this design on CakeCentral last year and I knew right away I wanted to replicate it come next year's SuperBowl! I think I did a darn good job, even though it pained me to use all that food coloring to get the colors right.

Let's pray for lighter colors for next year's Super Bowl teams, but more importantly, let's pray for the Jets!
