So, this isn't so much a dessert table as it is a round-up of desserts I made for the Super Bowl this year. If you don't already know, the Super Bowl is my most favorite event ever! I like to go all out for it. And by go all out, I mean, make a bunch of desserts...mainly for other people! Like for instance, last year, I gave away this two-tiered cake . And previous years before that, I made cakes for my brother and his friends and for my co-workers as well. This year, I made a cake for my brother and his friends again, but I also did something I've never done before-- I hosted a giveaway for an entire dessert spread! Cakes are cool, but I wanted to branch out and do something different. I decided on four desserts for the giveaway: brownies, cupcakes, Oreo truffles, and red velvet cheesecake cookies. Not a bad combination, eh?
You guys! The SuperBowl is in two weeks and some days!? What?! I feel like it was just yesterday I was waiting for football season to start, excited to see what my Jets had to offer this year. FYI, they had nothing to offer but interceptions. I guess I should probably be glad then, that this season flew by so fast. In any case, you'll know I'll be celebrating come February 1st! And stuffing myself with these football whoopie pies right here will be exactly how I do it. Holy deliciousness y'all. I've had my fair share of Devil Dogs , but these right here are legit. And they're so simple to make, you'll want to cry. All you need is your favorite boxed chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, oil, butter, marshmallow fluff, and powdered sugar. That's 7 ingredients, just in case you weren't counting. And the last three are for the filling, which will seriously blow your mind. I'm thinking it will be my go to filling for my oatmeal creme pies now. ...
So, how about them Ravens? Or more specifically, how about Joe Flacco? He tore it up yesterday and officially earned himself a spot amongst the elite. Helmets off to him! Apparently, his contract is about to expire. Wouldn't it be the coolest if the Jets picked him up? Oh, a girl can dream. Football talk aside, check out this game day cake! For once in my perfectionist life, I am pleased to say that I am ecstatic with how this cake turned out. It is the new and improved version of my first Superbowl cake , which I made way back when I had no decorating tools or any experience. Embarassing, I know. But I like to think that I've redeemed myself with this one :) For starters, I made the cake bigger, by baking two 13x9 inch cakes and putting them side by side. I also used a ruler to mark my yard lines and an actual Wilton bag and round tip to pipe them. I also drew the team names in the endzones, free hand, in a straight line. And I piped the words "Super Bowl...
First of all, let me just say that whack and yellow, err, I mean, Steelers, did not even deserve to be IN the Superbowl. Did you notice how they didn't even shake hands when the game was over? Pfft. They can take their terrible towels and dry their eyes with them. Sore losers. The Jets should have been the ones competing for that Lombardi trophy anyway. They're the ones who worked hard. They're the ones who had the toughest schedule in the playoffs, and they pretty much took out all the competition for everybody, and yet for some reason, nobody gives them any credit. That's alright though. We'll show them next year. As difficult as it was for me to make a Superbowl cake without my Gang Green's logo on it, I gritted my teeth and frosted and frosted until my hands fell off. No, seriously, it was A LOT of work. I have so much more appreciation for cake decorators now. Even though, most of them use fondant, which is probably a lot more easier than having t...
